On driving

We can do the difficult and challenging work of disincentivizing vehicle use, whether through economic measures or imposing restrictions.
Sean Devine · Ward 9 newsletter · March 31, 2026

What it meansMaking driving costlier or harder — in a ward where most families depend on a car to get to work, school and appointments.

As I work to move us gradually but steadily away from reliance on cars…
@DevineSean on X · Feb 27, 2023

What it meansReducing car use isn’t a side effect. He describes it as his work.

There doesn’t appear to be much political will at City Hall to detach ourselves from our very car-centric nature.
Sean Devine · Ward 9 newsletter · March 31, 2026

What it meansHe wants more political will at City Hall for pulling back from the car.

[Widening Prince of Wales] is just more space, for more cars, which eventually creates more congestion.
Sean Devine · Ward 9 newsletter · May 6, 2025

What it meansNo road widening, even as the population keeps growing.

On your garbage

Sean Devine (@DevineSean) on X, Oct 19, 2024: Yes, that’s what I meant. I was the Councillor that tried (and failed) to push for the two-bags-plus-tags approach.
@DevineSean on X · Oct 19, 2024

What it meansA limit of one bag per week, two garbage bags per pickup. Anything more would need a paid tag. That means paying twice for a service your taxes already cover, leaving you to pay a removal service to bring waste to the same dump, or just make your basement and garage the dump site.
